The Future Is Fearless: How Coco Granderson’s Vision Is Inspiring a Movement of Worthy Girls

The Girl Who Dared to Ask, “Why Not Me?”

I remember it clearly, not as a moment of arrival, but as a spark of awakening.
I didn’t grow up surrounded by people who talked about college, let alone Spelman College. I’m not even sure how I first learned of it. What I do know is that when I did, something in my spirit whispered, “That’s where I belong.”

No one in my family had attended a historically Black college. I had no relatives in Georgia. My first time stepping foot in Atlanta was at 17, a senior in high school, attending A Day in Your Life at Spelman. I didn’t have the financial means, but I had the heart and determination, and that is the foundation of dreams becoming reality.

I’ve always known I wasn’t meant to fit inside a mold. I’m not waiting to be chosen; I am the choice. I am the mode. The vibe. The trendsetter. That same “why not me” spirit is what I saw in 13-year-old Coco Granderson, who partnered with the legendary chemist Ron Robinson (the mind behind Rhode) to launch her youth-focused skincare brand YES DAY. Coco didn’t wait for permission; she became the permission.

She represents the next generation of fearless girls, girls who lead with purpose, innovate with intention, and shine without apology.

When Courage and Chemistry Collide

At just 13 years old, Coco saw what most adults overlook, a gap in representation and intention. The skincare aisles were filled with products promising glow, perfection, and transformation, but very few spoke directly to girls her age, especially girls of color who wanted to see their skin, tone, and truth reflected.

So, she did what visionaries do: she partnered with Ron Robinson, a Black chemist celebrated for developing Rhode with Hailey Bieber, and together they launched something groundbreaking, a skincare line rooted in care, culture, and confidence. Explore it for yourself at yesdayworld.com.

Her collaboration wasn’t just business; it was a bridge. It showed what’s possible when young brilliance meets seasoned wisdom, when representation meets innovation. Coco’s line tells every girl: “You belong in this conversation.”

What makes her story so remarkable isn’t just her age; it’s her awareness. She didn’t let youth, inexperience, or fear stop her. She looked at a gap and decided she’d fill it, not someday, but today. That’s what it looks like when faith meets focus, when a young Black girl decides she’s not too young, too small, or too early to make impact.

Coco’s brand isn’t just redefining skincare; it’s redefining self-concept. It’s not just about beauty, it’s about belonging. It’s teaching girls that self-care is sacred, and confidence is cultivated.

The Puberty Playbook: A Guide for the Becoming Girl

That same heart, that same “why not me” energy, inspired me to create The Puberty Playbook for Girls.
Because if we can teach girls to care for their skin, we can also teach them to care for their souls.

The Puberty Playbook is more than a guide; it’s a safe place for girls to understand who they’re becoming. It’s filled with affirmations, reflection activities, and truth-based lessons on everything from body changes and hygiene to emotions, confidence, and friendships.

But it’s not just education, it’s elevation.
It tells the girl in transition, “You are not awkward, you are awakening.”
It tells the girl who feels unseen, “You are not invisible, you are invaluable.”
It tells the girl who doubts her reflection, “You are not too much, you are miraculous.”

With vibrant visuals and inclusive representation, the Puberty Playbook gives girls language for their growth and a lens for their light. It bridges the gap between information and inspiration, because knowledge without affirmation still leaves space for shame.

This playbook teaches what I wish someone told me: puberty isn’t just about what’s changing, it’s about what’s emerging.

The Future Is Fearless

Coco’s story proves what I’ve known all along, the future is fearless because the girls are.

They’re not waiting for role models; they’re becoming them. They’re not waiting to be seen; they’re creating visibility. They’re not waiting to fit in; they’re reshaping the narrative. Coco’s courage reminds us that confidence doesn’t have a minimum age, and purpose doesn’t need permission to begin.

She’s redefining the standard for how girls see themselves, and how the world sees them. And that’s what every worthy woman should want: to make room for the next generation to rise higher, dream bigger, and walk bolder.

Because the future isn’t coming, it’s here. And it looks like a 13-year-old girl who dared to believe she could.

Faith + Purpose + Worth = Freedom

I didn’t have much growing up, but I had faith, and faith has always been enough.
Because faith makes room where finances can’t. Purpose paves paths where fear blocks the way. And worth reminds you that you already belong, even when you’re standing in unfamiliar territory.

That’s what I see when I look at Coco, and at every girl who dares to try.
Faith. Purpose. Worth. Freedom.
That’s the formula. That’s the future. That’s the movement.

Reflect: What dream have you silenced because you thought you didn’t have enough? You don’t need “enough” you need belief.
Rise: Take one intentional action this week, start the journal, launch the project, send the email. The first step is the seed.
Reclaim: You are not behind. You are becoming. You are not late; you’re right on time.
